Public Awareness Enhancement Program
While we are committed to support children with special needs throughout their treatment journey, we also aim to raise public awareness about the conditions they face. We believe that many of these cases are preventable through early education and intervention. Furthermore, we seek to highlight the potential of children with special needs to lead fulfilling, productive lives. They, too, aspire to equality, inclusion, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society.
About the project
Car Free Day
Car Free Day serves as one of the foundation’s initiatives to promote public awareness about children with special needs. During the event, the foundation team will distribute informational flyers to educate the community about hydrocephalus, spina bifida, and epilepsy, including strategies for prevention. As part of the preventive efforts, iron and folic acid supplements will also be distributed to young women, aiming to reduce the risk of hydrocephalus and spina bifida.
The event will also feature the participation of medical professionals from the Neurosurgery Division of Haji Adam Malik General Hospital, who will provide educational sessions and free health screenings. Additionally, the Neurokids and Epilepsy communities of North Sumatra will join the event, fostering solidarity and a sense of belonging among families facing similar challenges.
Hands of Hope
Hands of Hope” symbolizes the hands that bring hope to children with special needs. This event is initiated in response to the lack of awareness and concern among young people—particularly in Medan and its surrounding areas—toward children with disabilities.
The program aspires to provide a meaningful platform for youth in Medan to learn how to live alongside, understand, and socialize with children with disabilities. More than just an event, Hands of Hope is envisioned as the beginning of a journey—one in which participants can become hands of hope for children with special needs in their pursuit of equality and inclusion.
